Getting to know the world of motorcycles with a road motorbike

When choosing your very first road motorcycle, the first –and most important- thing to do is to ensure that it is adapted to your apprentice license. For example, a 6A license allows you to drive any motorcycle of your choosing; but with a class 6B license, you will be limited to 400 cc or less.

While you are still in your first motorcycle adventures and building experience, it is recommended to opt for models that are not too sporty for you, or that have lower cc. A road motorcycle can be an excellent option for a beginner. Do not hesitate to ask your dealership to help you select the perfect model for you and your level of experience.

License plates on road motorbikes

Just like cars, motorcycles must be registered, and fees must be paid every year. Registration fees are fixed, but insurance premiums will change according to the type of motorcycle you have and if:

  • It is 125cc or less
  • It is between 126cc and 400cc
  • It is 401cc or more
  • It is a high risk motorcycle.

Ask our team of experts in Quebec, or take a look at our new motorcycles, available at SM sport. We are looking forward to guiding you in your decision!
